Prenatal Pilates FAQ
-
For most healthy pregnancies, yes. Pilates is a gentle, low-impact way to stay strong and mobile while pregnant. In class, every exercise is chosen and modified for pregnancy, and youβll get options for how your body feels that day. Please check with your doctor or midwife before starting, especially if you have a high-risk pregnancy or any complications.
-
Most people can join at any point in pregnancy once their provider says itβs okay. You donβt need to wait for a certain trimester, and you can keep coming right up until birth, with movements adjusted as your body changes.
-
Not at all. Classes are suitable for complete beginners and for experienced movers alike. Youβll be guided step by step, and there are always options to make things easier or more challenging.
-
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, like leggings and a fitted or stretchy top and bring water. Mats are provided but youβre welcome to bring your own if you wish. We also ask that you purchase the booty bands and a small inflatable ball which youβll find on the checkout page. You can leave the ball deflated for your commute and inflate it upon arrival. If you forget any of these props, no problem! We have extra.

What is each class like?
Every class begins with a short check-in, so I know how youβre feeling that day and can adjust anything you need. From there we move through:Warm up to ease into movement and wake up your body gently
Strength work to build the support you need through pregnancy and beyond
Breathwork for birth, practical techniques you can use in labor and in everyday life
Restorative time to wind down and leave feeling calm

Meet your teacher
Hi, Iβm Kathleen. Iβm a certified Pilates and yoga instructor, but Iβm also a birth and postpartum doula, a certified childbirth educator, and a mom of three.
That combination matters in a prenatal class. Most fitness instructors learn how to modify exercises for pregnancy. Iβve also supported hundreds of families through the journey of pregnancy, birth an postpartum, so I know what pregnant bodies are preparing for, and what recovery asks of them afterward.
Thatβs why the movement in my classes isnβt just βsafe.β Itβs chosen with labor, birth, and life with a newborn in mind. Youβll get strength where youβll need it, breathwork you can actually use, and a teacher who knows what its like to go through it.
Iβd love to move with you.
